Greg Brown keeps referencing sources who then say that he's wrong.

In his attempts to have books removed from the Carmel High School library, Greg Brown has repeatedly demonstrated some combination of ignorance and dishonesty.

To start with two big examples, in one meeting, he claimed to have spoken to experts about the harmful effects of the books he wanted to remove. He then walked that back and said he had just read research published by NIH. I reached out to the team behind the research and they said that their findings were the opposite of what Greg Brown claimed. During that same meeting, Greg Brown repeatedly demonstrated a complete ignorance of how our laws work. I’ve already written about these two instances, so pop over to the Carmel Schools Dad website if you’d like to read those.

Beyond those instances, Greg Brown repeatedly made false or mistaken claims about book quarantines. First, he had this to say.

The Rosie’s, formally known as the Eliot Rosewater Indiana High School Book Award, are awarded annually by students reading and voting on nominated young adult books. The section on the Rosie’s was to highlight critically acclaimed books that students could read and vote on, not a restricted section of books with controversial content.

Greg Brown also kept coming back to the point seen in the following video, which confused quite a few parents with friends in the Westfield-Washington school district.

This isn’t a thing. Many parents already knew this, but Dr. Beresford confirmed it when Greg Brown kept bringing up the claim.

If not Carmel Excellence, then who?

If you're proud to live in one of the top school districts in the state...

If you appreciate and support our teachers...

If your kids have benefited or are benefiting from a world-class CCS education...

If you want our schools to stay welcoming to all students and their families...

I hope you'll join me in opposing Carmel Excellence and voting for Jon Shapiro and Kris Wheeler
